How to Transfer Print to a Lanyard |

Lanyards are a useful accessory, as many people use them to hold house keys, car keys, discount cards and other items they use on a regular basis. Lanyards are handy because they allow you to quickly access these items when they might otherwise fall to the bottom of a bag or purse. If you have a plain lanyard, spruce it up by adding some custom print. With the use of iron-on transfers, you can personalize your lanyard in minutes. 1 Create the slogan or text in a Word document or graphics program, such as Photoshop or PaintShop Pro. Since lanyards are quite thin, be sure that your text is small enough to fit on the lanyard. Remember that when printing on transfer paper, you will be turning the text upside down. Be sure to write any text in reverse order so that it comes out correctly when transferred to your lanyard. 2 Print out a practice copy of your text and make sure that it will fit correctly on the lanyard. If not, make any necessary adjustments before you waste any transfer paper. 3 Insert your iron-on transfer paper into the printer with the indicated side up. Read the manufacturer's instructions so you know exactly which way to place the paper in the printer. You must print on the correct side in order for the transfer to work correctly. 4 Print the text onto the transfer paper and then cut around the text, leaving about a ¼-inch border around the words. 5 Plug in your iron and set it to the hottest setting. While you are waiting for it to warm up, lay the lanyard on a flat work surface. (You can use an ironing board as the surface, but since the boards tend to stand quite high, it may prove difficult to iron the lanyard. If height is a problem, use a surface lower to the ground so you can press harder with the iron to transfer the text.) 6 Set the design in place, upside down on the lanyard. Push the iron on top of the transfer paper firmly and iron until you can remove the backing easily. Your text will then be transferred to the lanyard. |
