Belts are one of those accessories that are often left without a designated place in your closet. Belts can be rolled and placed in a dresser drawer, but they often unravel and result in a messy pile of leather that falls out of the drawer every time it is opened. Placing hooks on the wall is often ineffective because you have to remove each belt to get to the one underneath it. This can be time consuming and frustrating. Hanging them on a hanger causes the same problem. Commercial belt hangers sold in stores can be expensive. A homemade belt hanger is a simple solution that is inexpensive and easy to make. Place the hanger on a flat work surface. Measure in 2 inches from either side on the bottom rod that connect two arched side pieces. Mark a dot on the 2 inch spot with the pencil. Measure 2 inches to the side and mark with another dot. Continue until the entire rod is covered with dots spaced evenly apart. Fit the drill with a drill bit that is the same width as the cup hooks. Place the drill on the first marked dot and drill a hole into the wood. Repeat for all dots. Insert the end of a cup hook into the first drilled hole. Check to make sure that the shaft of the hook fits into the hole. Arrange the hooks so all of the loops are facing the same direction. Hang the hanger on a nail in a designated area of your room or closet. Place one belt on each hook. Make additional belt hangers out of hangers as needed. |
